### Summary
The selectee for this position will serve as a UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIRER OPERATOR in the ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

### Responsibilities
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
* You will control the generation of distribution of electric power located at power generating plants, power distribution centers, and substations.
* You will engage or cut out power sources, interpret wiring diagrams, plan routing and located failures, while anticipating load changes due to work schedules and weather.
* You will operate power generating and controlling equipment (high voltage generators, rotary converters, transformers, motor-generators and remotely operated switches and circuit breakers).
* You will review project designs and specifications for construction, repair alteration, and maintenance projects.
* You will examine, check, and test systems and equipment to determine extent of repairs.
* You will monitor data from wattmeters, voltmeters, and ammeters of various feeders.

**Requirements:**

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
The job often requires irregular hours.

**Physical Demands:**The incumbent experiences prolonged sitting as well as work which involves frequent bending, walking, standing, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. The incumbent frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds) and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
**Working Conditions:** The incumbent works inside in well lighted, and comfortable workspaces. May work inside or outside. Inside, employee is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperature,, and loud noise. Outside. employee may work in bad rater, in rain, or in wet areas. Both inside and outside, the employee is frequently exposed to irritation and discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or surfaces. Occasionally works in proximity to high voltages. Subject to electrical burns and shocks.

The Screen-out Element for this position is performing the following duties under normal supervision: 1) Performing operation and maintenance on a utility system; 2) Applying requirements contained in manufacturer brochures, manuals, electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications, and/or instructions; and 3) Finding the most efficient and expeditious method of repair to permit the continuance of utility system operation.

The incumbent works on parts and systems which are dirty and greasy, which may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects. The employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises, strains, and electrical shock while repairing, positioning, adjusting, and moving equipment, and are exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids, and lubricants. To reduce the dangers and irritations from the above conditions, the employee follows numerous safety procedures and wear equipment such as protective eyeglasses, ear devices, hard hats, hard toed shoes, respirators, gloves, and clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods.
