AT&T Network Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering assistance to all phases of network development, operation and management. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Monitor network topologies; develops and evaluates alternative utilization or configuration options. Conduct performance and trend analysis to include individual circuit availability rates. Develop processes and programs to enhance network performance and reliability. Conduct network testing, technology insertion, and developmental software application testing as required. Provide functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control to Associate personnel. Continuity of Operations (COOP). Design and plan network communication systems Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conduct testing of network design. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. This position is a 5 day rotational day shift (Sunday thru Thurs or Tues to Saturday) Basic Qualifications: Experience troubleshooting and configuring WAN / transport networks. Experience with Cryptographic equipment. Network integration experience for a variety of network protocol standards Detailed knowledge of multiple networking protocols such as SONET, SDH, DWDM, ATM and TDM. Experience analyzing WAN Networks such as ATM, DWDM, SONET, SDH and TDM. Experience with VLAN, routing, IP addressing and sub-netting project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills. One of the following 8570 Certification IAT II (CCNA Security, Security+ CE, GSEC or SSCP) Required Clearance: Secret w/SSBI (minimum); TS desiredDesired skills: Ability to communicate orally, and in writing, detailed technical information. ITIL Certification. CCNA/CCNP Familiarization of DOD regulations and directives. Proficient in configuration, troubleshooting and design of ATM, SONET, SDH, DWDM, Promina TDM. Specific vendor equipment experience: Cienna, Cisco SONET/SDH, Coriant, SONUS, Oceus. Advanced security certification and/or knowledge of attack vectors experienced in today' networks. Crypto configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience. IP, Routing protocols, VPN and Firewall knowledge and experience a plus. Physical cable plant and wiring experience The candidate selected for this position will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Understanding of network routing protocols, control plane mechanisms, MPLS, SNMP, and test equipment are a plus.
