Duties Summary This position is responsible to maintain and coordinate the administrative details of the Community Programs Director, YCA Director and YCA Assistant Director's office functions. The incumbent serves as the liaison for administrative support between the YCA staff and DOD personnel. Minimum Qualification Requirements A. Knowledge of: office practices and procedures; office management; operation of standard office machines; Department of Defense and State policies, rules, regulations and requirements as they relate to Academy office operations; grammar, punctuation, spelling and work usage. B. Ability to deal effectively with Cadets (students), parents, staff and members of the general public; interpret and apply Academy, DOD and State rules and regulations to varying situations; type accurately from draft or corrected copy at a rate of 40 wpm; compose standard and special memos and correspondence; cope with intensity and scope of activities in dealing with parents, staff and Cadets (student); plan, organize, supervise and coordinate a wide variety of clerical activities and services. C. Education: High School Diploma D. Possess a valid State of Hawai'i Driver's License E. Two years of progressively responsible experience which included typing, and/or substantive clerical work which demonstrated possession of, in addition to the knowledge of common office appliances and equipment and the ability to carry out procedures in clerical work systems and to perform secretarial tasks including, but not limited to, several of the following: serving as telephone and walk-in receptionist; maintaining a system of files; making travel arrangements; composing correspondence; obtaining and presenting information from files; routing correspondence, reviewing outgoing correspondence for format, grammar, spelling, punctuation and typographical errors (eg, word processing, spreadsheet, databases, etc.) Other Information This position exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature.
